Kupeti vakatoga

Rubbing blocks used to decorate masi by coating them in a brown or black pigment and them printing them onto the barkcloth. Constructed of voivoi (pandanus leaf), sasa (coconut leaflet midrib) and magimagi (coconut husk string) sewn onto a backing of vulo (the fibrous coconut leaf-sheath) and voivoi. Kupeti vakatoga originated in Tonga and came to Fiji during the late 1700s.
