Saulaki vonotabua

A saulaki vonotabua (rootstock club) studded with 37 inlays carved from sperm whale teeth by Tongan craftsmen. Ornamental inlays were made in Tonga and traded to Fiji. The most common motifs included multi-pointed stars, discs, crescents, triangles, rectangles and stylized birds. This club is 112cm in length.
