Baskets

Woven baskets were a common item in the Fijian household and were used for many purposes including fishing, storage and for carrying goods over distances. They were typically woven from coconut leaves, but in the highlands of major islands split bamboo or the split stems of the walaki cane (Flagellaria indica) were more commonly used.
